Born around 300AD, at 20 Lucy and her sick mother traveled to St. Agatha’s tomb to pray for a cure, where the Saint appeared promising her mother’s healing. Lucy broke off her engagement and consecrated herself to Christ, enraging her fiancé who denounced her as a Christian. Guards could not remove her, even with an oxen team, as she was supernaturally rooted to the ground. Stabbed by the guard, she lived long enough to receive Holy Communion.
